Bird Migration in
Baytown
Join us for Baytown Birding Week, a 3.5-day birding experience featuring guided excursions throughout the Baytown area and showcasing some of the region’s best coastal habitats and wildlife viewing opportunities.
This experience offers free guided birding tours with complimentary transportation to some of the top birding locations in Baytown and the surrounding area. All transportation to and from birding locations, meal destinations, and the hotel will be provided throughout the program. Scheduled airport shuttle service to and from Hobby Airport is also available upon request.
Baytown Birding Week is provided free of charge exclusively to guests who book their stay through the official Bird Week hotel reservation link below. To participate, first reserve your hotel room using the designated booking link, then complete your registration. Please have your hotel booking confirmation number available when registering.
While guided tours and transportation are included at no cost, participants are responsible for their own meals and any applicable admission fees. Participation is limited to guests who book all four nights through the exclusive Bird Week hotel booking link.

Meet Will Jones: Your Birding Guide
When it comes to birding in Baytown, few people know the area quite like Will Jones.
Born and raised in Baytown, Will first discovered his love of birds through the Wade Into Wetlands summer science camps. Those early experiences opened his eyes to the incredible wildlife found right in his own backyard and sparked a lifelong appreciation for nature.
Today, Will serves as the City of Baytown’s Volunteer Coordinator and continues to explore Baytown’s parks, wetlands, and waterways. His passion for birds and knowledge of the area make him a natural guide for Birding in Baytown Week.
“Birds are a really easy way to appreciate nature,” Will said. “You don’t have to look very close, or very far, to find a bird.”
Baytown’s location along the Texas Gulf Coast and near major migratory flyways makes it an exciting place for birding. From year-round residents to migrating species, there is always something new to discover.
One of Will’s favorite birds is the roseate spoonbill, a bright pink bird often seen around Baytown’s wetlands.
During Birding in Baytown Week, Will will help participants explore some of Baytown’s best birding locations while sharing his knowledge of the birds, habitats, and natural areas that make our community special.
Whether you are an experienced birder or just starting out, Will hopes you’ll take a closer look at the birds around you.

During the spring and fall migrations, the region's coastal habitats become vital stopover sites where thousands of birds rest and refuel before continuing their journeys, making every day an opportunity to experience a new birding adventure.
Don’t miss birding on Bayland Island, where you’ll likely spot plenty of Brown Pelicans while enjoying some downtime near the host hotel the Hyatt Regency Baytown Houston. The hotel has views of the Houston Ship Channel, the marina and the iconic Fred Hartman suspension bridge. Enjoy their on-site restaurant, lobby bar, and pool area.
