A Morning Must-Have In Baytown
Sabrina Galloway - Baytown Tourism Visitor Outreach Specialist

Payton’s Blend is a newer roasting house and coffee shop located off Hugh Echols near the courthouse on Baker St. Their menu features a variety of both hot and cold coffee/non-coffee beverages. A cookie crunch frappe and a pumpkin spice latte are just two of the establishments’ signature coffees. The cookie crunch frappe blows the typical Java Chip frapp right out of the water! The consistency of this drink is spot on, and the flavor is mind boggling. It’s like having a dessert for breakfast! If you are looking for something less sweet, but still full of flavor, go for the caramel macchiato or cappuccino. Allergies aren't a problem for this little mom and pop shop. All drinks can be made dairy free--just make the request upon ordering!

Payton’s Blend is more than made-ready-for-you specialty coffee. They also sell k-cups, bags of ground coffee or whole coffee beans, and drink ware accessories. The back portion of the shop is complete with a coffee bean roasting set-up. All of the coffee is roasted in house, making the flavor even more rich and delicious. Not only do they have a great cup of joe, they offer some of the best pastries and desserts I have ever had; sweet potato pie to pineapple tarts to decadent chocolate cakes. These sweets are baked homemade and fresh everyday by the president, Dowattie Payton, herself. I like the sweet potato pie so much that I ordered 4 of them for my rehearsal dinner! They are my go-to dessert to bring to family functions when I’ve run out of time for baking. The inside is perfectly sweetened and the crust is flaky and moist.

What makes Payton’s Blend even more special is that a percentage of their Net Profits are used to assist battered and abused families. The Payton family is full of giving.  From the president all the way down to their seven year old son, Oscar Jr. Young Oscar has a box in the coffee shop that customers are encouraged to donate canned goods and toiletries to be given to help those in need. He was even a spotlight on KHOU for his kindess! With the holidays quickly approaching, bringing some donations to Payton's Blend is the perfect way to give back to your local community.

All around, Payton’s Blend is a morning must-have to check out in Baytown! Be sure to like them on Facebook at Payton’s Blend and swing by sometime this week for a great cup of coffee and a yummy dessert!
